| SHIPPING & TRANSPORTATION OF YOUR BIRD(S)
There are several methods in which I am able to get your new feathered friend to you. PERSONAL DELIVERY If driving is possible you may come and pick up your bird personally or I could deliver it to you or I could meet you part way. There may be gas costs to the buyer depending on distance needed to travel by me. SHIPPING BY AIR I am willing to ship anywhere in Canada either through Westjet or Air Canada. I do prefer to ship with Westjet wherever possible as they have better cargo facilities particularly when stopovers are necessary. Air Canada’s cargo areas, both in the planes and on land, are not always heated. I have shipped with both and had no problems with Westjet but have had a couple of problems with Air Canada. I also prefer to ship during the week rather than on the weekend. My experience has shown me that the week staff seem to have a bit better understanding of birds and the necessary requirements for their safe arrival. VIA WESTJET The cost is approximately $70.00 anywhere in Canada. Sometimes there is an extra fee that can be between $50-75 if employees have to come in earlier then there scheduled shift to prepare the bird(s) for shipping or if they have to stay later to wait for the bird(s) to be unloaded. VIA AIR CANADA The approximate cost for shipping with Air Canada is anywhere from $70-$150. I have shipped birds from Fort St. John, BC to New Brunswick and the cost was $150. Air Canada’s shipping cost depends on how far they are traveling. I have also flown birds by Air Canada from Fort St. John, BC to Vancouver Island, BC and the cost was less than Westjet. SHIPPING CARRIER There is an additional cost of $30 for shipping carrier. I buy Airline approved cat/dog carriers and modify them to make your bird(s) as comfortable as possible. I securely attach a perch or perches depending on number of birds (please note I will ship cockatiels in same carrier but not parrots). I include seed, fruit and veggies dishes as well. Some may be secured to the door and some may be secured with nylon ties to the side. The birds are given enough seed to last them for quite a while plus a big variety of veggies and apple. (In hot weather the fruits don’t last very long). The bottom of the carrier is filled with pine shavings for good absorption and comfort. I make a cover that goes around the whole carrier but allow some areas for ventilation. I make a door flap cover as well to prevent drafts and startling the bird. The door is also secured with nylon ties so that no one will accidentily open the carrier door. These ties can be cut off when you arrive home. You will be able to use this carrier for future trips and is a worthwhile investment even if you are not having your bird shipped. The $30.00 covers just the cost of the materials and I don’t make any extra from selling these great modified carriers. Yes…more than one cockatiel can go in a carrier. If you are purchasing more than one cockatiel and less than 6 cockatiels they can all fit in the same carrier so the cost of shipping remains the same as if you were shipping one bird. However, I will not put two parrots together. They need to be shipped in their own individual carriers. PLEASE NOTE I DO NOT SELL UNWEANED BABIES AS TO DO SO WOULD JEOPARDISE THE HEALTH OF THE BABY. All my babies are allowed to wean when they want to be weaned. All of my babies are abundance weaned and are given a huge variety of veggies, fruit and plenty of other nutritious, healthy foods. Thank you for your interest in a New Beginnings Aviary bird. Whether you purchase a baby from me, or another breeder, I wish you the very best with the new addition to your family. If you have any questions please feel free to email me and I will answer them or if I am not sure of the answer I will find someone who can. Sincerely, Deborah & the Whole Clan {:o) (Click on Photos Below) |
